Need to configure xprtld with alternate port
Created: 03 Sep 2012 | Updated: 03 Sep 2012 | 3 comments
Storage Foundation for UNIX 5.0 MP3.
Port 5634 is already in use on our servers by another application. Can anyone tell me how to configure Veritas so it will use an alternate port number?
Thanks

It looks like with 6.0 (where XPortal service is xprtlwid rather than xprtl), you use the -port option - see https://sort.symantec.com/public/documents/sfha/6.0/aix/productguides/html/sfha_install/ch07s03.htm where it says:
To start the Web-based installer
The webinstaller script displays a URL. Note this URL.
Note:
If you do not see the URL, run the command again.
The default listening port is 14172. If you have a firewall that blocks port 14172, use the -port option to use a free port instead.
So you could see if -port is supported with 5.0

I don't think that 5.0 MP3 allowed you to change the xprtld port.
BTW, this port is registered to Symantec in the IANA registry. So it is actually the other application that should change :-)
