    Hello

I have installed the virtual appliance version of web gateway 5.2.

I am running through the initial setup wizard and am stuck.

On the Server Information page, I have selected Proxy and set one single IP address, subnet mask, gateway and DNS, but when I click Finish I get the following error:

"A seperate inline network is required for proxy operation. Please select a different operating mode or enable seperate networks"

I don't understand why I'm getting this message. I didn't select Inline or Inline+Proxy mode, so why should I need a seperate inline network? I don't want an inline device, I simply need a device to set as the proxy on my clients. There's no WAN interface involved here. I've scoured the admin guide to no avail.

From my understanding, a basic proxy device can have one LAN IP address.

Am I missing something obvious here?

    Cheers

    James

You are required to enable the management port when in proxy mode. The Web Gateway will use the management port for hosting the web interface and also to download new updates and perform other kinds of network functions so the LAN interface is free to be used as a proxy with minimal crosstalk.

Here is a document that explains what the management port needs for the Web Gateway to function properly:

So there's absolutely no way that I can configure the appliance with just the one interface for both proxy and management? My test lab is set up with only one network you see.

No, that is not an option
