Endpoint Encryption

When I left my last job, I burned a CD with documents I would need here (overseas).

The burning software I had to use was Symatec Endpoint Encryption - I had to input a password for each individual file to burn (took awhile!)

Now I am here at my new job, and the computer uses different software, and of course SEE is not installed on the computer here.

How can I decrypt this CD?  I downloaded the trial version of SEE from this website, and I've got it installed on my home computer (I installed the "removable media encyption x64" program.)  But when I try to open the CD, it still shows the files as encrypted (as .xml files) and I can't open them.  Please help!  Thanks,

SEE requires a management server setup.  What you have installed is most likely the Management Server Removable Storage component.  Those components allow you to generate client installation packages, which is what you need to then install on a system to decrypt.

Thank you Mike, very appreciated.  I don't suppose you could tell me how to generate a client installation package (or possibly point me to directions on the website somewhere?).  This is the first time I've done anything like this so I'm very much new to this!

    OK,

update: I used the Symantec Endpoint Encryption Manager to create a Removeable Media Encryption Client (I think that's what you said I should do!).

It created an installer file, but when I try to run it, it says "Error: Symantec Endpoint Encryption Management Agent is not installed on this computer. Installation of Symantec Endpoint Encryption Removable Media Encryption Client has been canceled."  I'm not sure why I get that message, since I know Management Agent is installed, since I used it to create the client installation installer.  And, when I try to reinstall the Management Agent (just to be sure) it automatically goes to an un-install prompt, since it's already installed.  I feel like I'm one step closer, but stuck!

Ok, so this article has the basics on how to create standalone client installer packages in SEE 11, but it is not officially supported.  We only support managed environments for SEE v11:
    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/how-set-serverless-standalone-installation-symantec-endpoint-encryption-version-11

Basically, you have to install the SEE Management Agent and then generate a SEE Management Agent Client package as well.  You must have the Management Agent Client before you can use any of the other packages.  Again, this is not a supported configuration, so my advice would be to get the data decrypted and uninstall as soon as possible.  Since you are not using Drive Encryption, you are a little less likely to lose data, but it still isn't a great idea to leave the components on a standalone system any longer than is necessary.
