    Hello:

    We are using Symantec Packager 1.1, Build 734 on a Windows 2003 server.  I built the deployment package using all of the default parameters and I see the .exe file on the client Windows XP Professional, but when I attempt to execute the file, nothing happens.  I have not been able to find a topic regarding this problem and would really appreciate any help.

    What AV product and version are you trying to install? Have you been able to perform the deployment and install on a different OS?

    When you built your package, is it possible that you have put in "silent instal" options, which would require no user interaction?

    If you check in your EVENT VIEWER, System Logs, do you have any installation or MSI errors, these could help us in locating the problem...

    Also, is it possible, simply that the package was not created properly an cannot be deployed as-is?

    It's AntiVirus Client 8.1.0825 and Endpoint Version 11.0.1001.1375.  No, this was my first experience with this product.  I wasn't involved in the initial installation at our Gift Shop (this is a museum) and therfore was never exposed to the software.  I am more familiar with the now outdated Corporate Antivirus version.

    AV 8.1 is End of Life and no longer supported. The SEP version you are using is way outdated. There have been thousands of fixes in that product since the 11.0.1001 build was released. You need to get the latest build before going forward with your installs.

    No, the "Interactive" option is installed.  Unfortunately, I can't access that workstation at the moment to see Event Viewer.

    Yes, it is certainly possible that the package was not created properly, for I am certainly far from being an expert.  However, I chose all of the default options.

    What normally happens in an interactive installation?  Does the installation process start up automatically on the client, or is it user-initiated?  The help file and installation guide/tutorial says absolutely nothing about what to do after a deployment.

    In the Interactive Install..The Install will launch however User will have to click Next and Install

    Is this by any chance a 64-bit version of Windows?

    The last version of Symantec Antivirus that Symantec Packager shipped with was version 8.x. This was before x64 versions of Windows were available, and Packager packages don't self-extract on x64 systems.

    Otherwise, what version are you trying to deploy using Packager?

    I am attempting to deploy AntiVirus Client 8.1.0825 on a 32 bit version of Windows XP Professional.

    You are going to have issues with SAV 8. Please see this thread that explains an issue that developed last May.

    With network connectivitvity and "admin priviledges" you can "Right Click" on My Computer (on your machine) and choose MANAGE.

    From there, you can "connect to a remote machine" and view the Event Viewer from a distance on a different machine.
