  • 1.  Need help locating .msi file to uninstall Yahoo Messenger

    Posted Jan 04, 2016 12:16 PM

I want to create a task or policy that will remove Yahoo Messenger from our machines. We recently brought  our email in house and are now using Lync as our communication tool.

Previously we had been using Yahoo IM and it was included in our image but now I was asked to find a way to remove it from all machines company wide. Of course I don't want to have to physically touch every machine so a task or policy to remove it would be ideal but I need the .msi file to do this.

We have a few different versions of IM ranging from somewhere around version 8 or 9 up to the most recent of 11.

    Ideas?

    Thanks in advance.

Are you sure you definitely need the msi file? You might still be able to uninstall it using msiexec /x {guid} /q. Otherwise you could try to see in the windows\installer directory to see if there's a usable cached msi file in there.
