This issue has been solved. See solution.

We keep the software on a NFS share that we mount as needed.  It has always worked fine until today.....

This is what normally happens:

Symantec Installation Script
Copyright 1993 - 2007 Symantec Corporation, All Rights Reserved.

        Installing NetBackup Client Software

NOTE:  To install NetBackup Server software, insert the appropriate
        NetBackup Server cdrom.

Do you wish to continue? [y,n] (y)
Do you want to install the NetBackup client software for this client? [y,n] (y)

This package will install RS6000/AIX5 client.

This is what is currently happening on 2 AIX clients and 1 Solaris client:

Symantec Installation Script
Copyright 1993 - 2007 Symantec Corporation, All Rights Reserved.

        Installing NetBackup Client Software

NOTE:  To install NetBackup Server software, insert the appropriate
        NetBackup Server cdrom.

Choose the Platform Client Options you wish to install.

        Platform Client Options
        -----------------------
         1. INTEL
         2. SGI
         3. Solaris
         4. All UNIX client platforms
         q. quit selecting

        Enter Choice(s) [1 - 4]

For some reason it is not detecting the platform.  I can select the platform I need but it doesn't install anything.  It is the same exact files being used on all my AIX/Solaris clients.  I have already installed 15 AIX/Solaris clients this morning with no problems.  Just these 3 are not working.  I'm stumped on this one.  I am upgrading from 6.0MP4/MP6 to 6.5 then 6.5.4

SOLVED

Found the problem.  For some reason, SERVER was installed on these 3 machines instead of CLIENT.  Removed the server software and re-installed and upgraded the client.
