Hey Everyone,

First off, in summary, we are having 2 problems here. The first is using HII tools that were released. I have tried 3 different versions of the DS just to see if that helps, but no luck so far.

To recap, I started out with DS 6.8 and installed the tools per the guides written here between CondorMan and erikw. I then upgraded to 6.9 and subsequently to 6.9 SP1 with MP1. So far, the server performance and stability seem to be even better which I think is due to better WOW64 support among other things.

Current DS Server:
Specs - Sun 4150 Server
OS - Windows Server 2003 x64 SP2
CPU - Dual Core 2.2GHz AMD Opteron
RAM - 8GB
SQL - 2005 Express SP3 locally installed
Storage - iSCSI Connection to a BlueArc NAS

At first, our server would crawl when we first set it up which we attributed to SQL Express and the OS fighting in the same 32bit 2GB limit of space, but through several upgrades and tweaks, things have been dramatically improved. However, we are really trying to move away from an nLite created driver injected image to a completely streamlined and dynamically changing driver environment via the HII Tools.

So far, I have tried creating the image under VMWare Server, tweaked the vmx file to think it is an e1000 series intel nic, added in WinPE 2.1, ran the job under HII Tools that creates a hardware independent image complete with sysprep, and it successfully uploads the files to our eXpress share. Then, I have used the distribute hardware indepedendent job to send it to a Dell 960 (in Legacy Mode) with WinPE 2.1 as well and it lights up a connection, downloads the image, and appears to run the prescripted job to download the correct HAL and Drivers as it will successfully boot into windows after the image and sysprep part completes.

However, it is not downloading the drivers it needs (NIC, Video, etc). I have run the collect drivers job on a similar 960 system and DS shows a green checkmark and says, "Complete. Now cataloging new drivers".

I have even tried to use the HII Driver Library Maintenance, but when I run the "Cleanup Now", it starts with the dialog saying, "Driver Library Cleanup is running in the background. When it is finished, "Driver Library Cleanup last run will be updated.", but for some reason, it always lists "never".

I have also even tried the Manually Add Driver and navigating to the latest intel nic drivers from their website just to see if it will insert them, but no dice.

Any thoughts? We could really use some help as I have run plum out of ideas here. Thanks much everyone!
