this should help you, u should select .pst .ost file extensions in exclusion policy

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/centralized-exceptions-policies-why-use-them-and-how-configure-them

are u trying to excluded from SEPM or frm client side?

    Hello San1985,

Can you please clarify your questions? Are you just unsure how to setup the exclusions you want or is there some technical difficulty preventing you?

Exclusions should not be made on operating system files, or installed programs. I'd want all of these thing scanned weekly. IMO

    Hello San1985,

The following document explains how to create exceptions within the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager. Please let me know if you have any questions after reading it.

Creating Centralized Exception Policies in Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH104326

That document will tell you how to create exclusions with SEP, but it will not tell you what to exclude. In order to know what you need to exclude (if anything), you will need to either contact the vendor of the software or consult the software's documentation.

I want to exclude the folders and extension files from SEPM console and this policy need to apply to all clients.

I need to exclude the some vendor softwares like adobe, winzip, etc.. Already I've addedd the Pdf and Zip file extension in exclude list. If i add the adode folder to  exclude list is it safe?

    better to exclude exe files

like outlook.exe, adobe.exe rather than excluding the entire folder. u need to check with vendor regarding what they want to be excluded.
