Need to know the compatability information

Created: 26 Feb 2013 | 1 comment

I have a Backup tape which was backed up using convault version 6, will I be able to read the tape using Backup Exec 2010? Is there any compatability list available?

If I import a tape at backup exec which was backed up using any application, will backup exec read the data after performing catalog job?

Backup Exec uses the mtf format...so if the other application is also writing the data to the tapes using mtf, then restore via Backup Exec is usually possible.

Supported Tape Formats

Microsoft Tape Format v1.0 (read and write)
    Backup Exec for NetWare (read)
CA ARCserve v6.x and ARCserve 2000 for Windows NT and Windows 2000 (read)
CA ARCserve v4.x, 5.x and 6.x for NetWare (read)
    SMS/SIDF (read)
