Ever since we went from v.11 to v.12, I have NO idea where the Sylink files that I need to replace is in order to make a client go from unmanaged to managed, I know of the sylink drop utilities, but I want to know the location of the Sylink.xml file,  so I can replace it manually. WIndows 2003 Server 32 Bit systen.

    chekc this

    http://www.symantec.com/connect/forums/sylinkxml-locations-sep-11-sep-12

    sylink.xml for SEP11 (win 2003/2008):

    C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection

    sylink.xml for SEP 12.1 (win 2003):

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application data\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\12.1.1000.157.105\Data\Config

    sylink.xml for SEP 12.1 (win 2008):

    C:\ProgramData\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\12.1.1000.157.105\Data\Config

    However for 64 bit machines,

    SEP 12.1

    "C:\ProgramData\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\12.1.xx.xx.xx\Data\Config"

    SEP 11.x

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection

P.S: before replacing the sylink you need to stop the smc service

    start - run

    smc -stop

wait for few seconds ... replace the sylink file. Once done

    start - run

    smc -start..

    Hello,

Sylink.xml file location has changed in SEP 12.1

Previously it was under program files now it's been moved under user profile directory.

For Windows XP here is the location:

    Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\<current_install_build_number>\Data\Config

You need to stop the service before changing Sylink.xml

smc -stop ( To stop the service)

smc -start ( To start the service)

What is the location for Sylink.xml in Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1?

How to change the sylink.xml file in Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) 12.1

From SEP 12.1 onwards dependency on Sylink replacer tool has drastically decreased because of the new feature added in 12.1

    HI,

You can use Sylink replacer to replace the Sylink or you can import communication settings via SEP client GUI.
