need to move b2d files to tape

Created: 19 Jun 2013 | 5 comments

My B2D folder has hit the low disk threshold and I am no longer able to backup to the device.  I still have data on there that I would like to keep for a few more months.  How do I go about moving those files from the B2D to tape?

Duplicate the backup sets that you want to retain to a Tape device by using the Duplicate job feature.

Hello there,
You should not be moving the files from B2D to tapes but should be duplicating the data to the tapes and then deleting the B2D files from Backup Exec console as well as the physical location on the disk.

Please refer to the technote:

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH176061 : Reasons why backing up or copying backup to disk data files is NOT recommended.

Hope this piece of Information Helps you... and if it does then mark this response as Solution....!!!

Thanks for all of the input.  I am in the process of duplicating my backups the way that has been suggested.  However, is there a way to get the backups that are currently taking up space that didn't get the duplicate job run on to tape?
