Hi,
I have a client who needs a users mailbox restored from back in Jan 2010. Normally this wouldn't be a huge issue, however the server and domain that the backup was created on no longer exist. I try to restore from tape but just get an error "Unable to attach to a resource" which would make sense I guess as it would be trying to authenticate against the old domain controller.
Is there a way I can restore the mailbox in the new environment?
We use BE 12.5, the server was an SBS 2003 server with Exchange 2003. We currently run Exchange 2007 in our environment.
Thanks

You can use a recovery server to get the databases restored
refer : http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH20523
Hi,
Another way is to duplicate your backup to disk and use something like Ontrack PowerControls to pull the information out of the *.pst. Follow the steps in the link below to duplicate the data...

You can use the trial version to do this. That said, if you were using BE 2012 it would be a lot easier as it has the functionality to restore to a *.ost, which means you wouldn't require any 3rd party application.
Also, restoring from an Exchange 2003 backup into Exchange 2007 might not be supported...
Thanks!
