  • 1.  Need for SIFMSMSE and Symantec Anti-Virus with Endpoint Protection Manager?

I'm running Endpoint Protection Manager (11x) on my server and have an Exchange server running on that machine.  I am bit confused about whether I also need to be running Symantec Information Foundation Mail Security for MS Exchange and Symantec Antivirus on that machine as well, or whether they are components of Enpoint Protection Manager, or whether neither of those should be on there.  SIFMSMSE is on there, but is reporting that it is unlicensed and is not updating; SAV is reporting a bunch of tamper protection alerts, which seem like it's just tripping over other Symantec components.  Thank you in advance for any clarification.

You need both SEPM and SMS for MSE ( SIFMSMSE )
You need to add the SLF file to the Mail Security console..the SLF ( License file you will get when you register your product in https://licensing.symantec.com

What Tamper Alert are you receiving can you give us a bit more details on that like which process (exe) is causing this alert.

    Event Info: Open Internal Event
    Action Taken: Blocked
    Actor Process: C:\Program Files\Symantec\LiveUpdate\LuComServer_3_4.EXE (PID 5244)
