Hi guys,

Can anyone here please suggest me what are my options to prepare before restoring the archived file (FSA) using the builtin command line utility called FSAUtility ?

my total file server D: drive is 1 TB while the archive size total is 2.3 TB, the underlying disk architecture is a fixed RAID group so it cannot be expanded easily.

You may wish to run FSAUtility and restore archived contented to another location.

The options are mentioned in following Tech note.

Restoring archived files http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO37838
How to use the FSAUtility -t option http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH67782

Example

FSAUtility -t -s \\myserver\users -d \\newserver\users

Hi,

I think if you use 4 TB space will help. The 4 TB space is more but for safety purpose i think it's best option before restore.

Thanks,

Ajay

Hi John,

If you are facing difficulties in expanding the RAID, then you may go for restoring to a different location using FSAUtility..

ok, after exporting the report information from the usage.asp report page, does the capacity reported there is in compressed or in raw ?

I need to get the real uncompressed total size.

The usage report is the original item size without single instancing so that is what you need.
