    Posted Sep 16, 2011 10:24 AM

I have two clients, one who was using SEP 10., whom we upgraded to 11. and is having intermittent slowdowns due to random, unscheduled scans in the middle of his work day. So, I need the SymRmvScan to clear those out. For the second client, I need to remove the management console as well as the client from a 2003 server, and the uninstall wwould not run properly. Thank you.

Thanks for the reply, however, I have a server that wouldn't uninstall the pieces properly, and I need to get the software off. The client has decided to go with a different AV solution (ESET), and the Symantec is in the way.

I'm on the phone now with support, hopefully won't get too much of a run around, or the occasional tech who has no idea what CleanWipe is. So, since you don't recommend CleanWipe for a server, how do you suggest I get an uninstall performed when it won't uninstall cleanly on its own?

With all the copies of SEP that have been purchased, or could be purchased, why is it such a problem getting the CleanWipe tool? And don't feed me the line "It's so powerful we can't just give it to anyone...." If I wanted it, I'd buy a single license, call in and say " my power went out on the install/uninstall, and now I need CleanWipe to reinstall", or any other number of excuses. What's the fuss?

Well, I have the cleanwipe, which I expected problems with, since we don't have the serials or anything for the client we took over. However, the client that WE loaded SEP on, for which I'm physically holding the certificate, is another story. Apparently, the CS rep doesn't feel that I'm entitled to download SymRmvScan to fix my problem.

you can delete the scan entries from registry also

    1. \CustomTasks
    2. Delete all values in the CustomTasks key.
    3. or use manual uninstall documentation to remove SEP

Closing the thread. I had a call into tech support, and it took an extended time to get the final file, but once I had it, it got what I needed. Marking the first "Call somebody!!" as answer.
