Need trial: Symantec PGP Desktop Corporate 10.2.1 MP4 for Mac
Created: 27 Sep 2012 | 5 comments
As I have serious problems using PgP on Mac, which runs File Vault 2 (Lion and Mountain Lion)
I need to test if it is possible to install PgP and encrypt WDE with File Vault.
MP4 should have enhanced support for Mountain Lion.

Can I be provided with a download link?
Thanks.

PGP WDE is not compatible with Filevault 2. We have several KB articles and it is also documented in our release notes that we are not compatible. The two will not work in tandem on the same machine. I am told that 10.2.1 MP4 should be available as trialware on our site now. So it's worth checking back. At the time of writing this article is is still 10.2.1 MP3 though.

Yes, I understand. Difficult to understand, as we use pgp NOT for WDE.
Our organizations a compagnies worldwide use pgp for mail and file encryption, only.
Mac offers nice build in encryption - why not use it?
This trick does the job, working ... Must be possible to solve for Symantec?

Hi PGP_Ben,
I've the same problem with an external encrypted Time Maschine Backup Disk!
Ok i understand PGP is not compatible with Filevault. But please answer to me the following 2 questions:
1. WHY checks PGP Desktop my external disk without ANY user inteactions? All what PGP Desktop should do is encrypt my internal disk.
2. What I've to do to create a secure backup of my encrypted internal OSX Disk using TimeMaschine?
BTW: The TECH173502 http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH173502&profileURL=https%3A%2F%2Fsymaccount-profile.symantec.com%2FSSO%2Findex.jsp%3FssoID%3D1358449744874k927291M316Gj8R3W1S698U0T82eM5FO7gVJl
doesn't work for the following issue on ML 10.8.2 and PGP Desktop 10.2.1 MP4 :
The exclusion of the tandem functionality of PGP together with FV are release notes!
BUT that only the connection of an encrypted external disk (thas was my case) causes an unusable OSX system after a reboot is a BUG!
Kind regards,
Kai
This incompatability with External Drives encrypted with Filevault was fixed in Symantec Encryption Desktop 10.3.0 Mp1 please see the release notes for more information found here:
