Hi Sri, Not sure what is your

Hi Sri,

Not sure what is your requirement with your terms "clean script".

If you want to swap out the entire software binaries,  you can either use uninstall script provided by symantec, or simply pkgrm all the VRTS packages.

With uninstall scripts, it will leave some pkgs there in case you need them in the future, like pkgs related to license etc.

Another note is while you pkgrm VRTSvxvm,  a configuration backup will be put under root file system, this is useful if you intend to do a upgrade/downgrade, otherwise you can also delete this backup afterwards.

HI Eric,

HI Eric,
Cleanup script means, for windows u r providing a  EXE file in sf_ha_32bit.dvd1.5.0.00.R1.win\Tools\vpi\CleanupScript 32 which cleans up the server when uninstallation fails.

Like this are any script exists for solaris environment ?

Sri

Hello Sri,

As of my knowledge nothing like that on Solaris........

In windows it might exist because there is Registry concept..... while Solaris there is nothing like that....

Hope this answers to your query....

The unix scripts are pretty

The unix scripts are pretty good about restarting a failed install. We've haven't seen a problem in years where a failed install couldn't be cleaned up by the uninstall script or a later install failed.

What situation are you facing?

HI Gaurav & Bluelang, Thanks

HI Gaurav & Bluelang,

Thanks for ur replies.

My situation is like, without knowledge some of the VRTS folders present in the /opt/ directory got deleted. in this situation, will the  uninstall script works.

Second thing is , just i would like to cleanup all my VRTS folders when doing uninstall. I could see some folders related to Veritas in /opt/ , /var/ , / etc/ location which has to be removed manually. Y it is not getting removed in uninstall part.

With Regards,
Sri

Well I believe that would

Well I believe that would call for a manual intervention..... some footprints would be left out & that surely needs manual cleaning...
