Needs to backup cifs shares a ndmp option licence?

Hello,

i need a answer, in the past when i used backup exec 2010R3 i dont need a additonal licence for the ndmp option for backup cifs shares on a nas, how is this with the backup exec 2012?

Hi,

 

You can add that NAS in with \\IP_Address\Share and you should be able to backup the data. No need for the NDMP option.

You will need a RAWS license to be compliant though as you are backing  up FROM the NAS.

Thank you for your reply, i thought it too and we have a RAWS Agent but do you know should it installed or register on the nas or its enough to have a RAWS Lic?.

You won't be able to install the RAWS agent on the NAS at all. You do need it though for compliancy.
