NetApp NDMP Backup

Created: 29 Mar 2010 • Updated: 02 Oct 2010 | 6 comments

Hi,

we have a little Problem with Netbackup 6.5 and a NDMP Backup of a old Netapp FAS250C

we changed the password for the root account and now the backup didn´t run...understandably
Now we tried to change the Password under Media and Device Management -> Credentials -> NDMP
but without success.

The System throws the following error message:

client connection refused - status 57

Any Ideas welcome :)

regards
Marcus

set_ndmp_attr ?

I remember using the credentials for this once & it seemed a bit counter-intuitive?

make sure NDMPD is on. Check it by running command ndmpd status on filer. Assuming there was no change on firewall and you have port 10000 still open, check the connectivity with ping followed by

tpautoconf -verify ndmp_host_name
tpautoconf -probe ndmp_host_name

Yes and if tpautoconf does not work, check the access lists on your NAS.

- We try to set the NDMP password
(1.jpg)
- Checked NDMP on the Filer. All seems to be fine. NDMP is on and no NDMP Session is hung.
- set the NDMP Credentials via GUI (2.jpg)
-  received a "client connection refused" (3.jpg)
- with these Troubleshooter outputs (4.jpg and 5.jpg)
- ouput of the "tpautoconf -verify ndmp_host_name" and "tpautoconf -probe ndmp_host_name" (6.jpg)

as you don't install the client software on the filer you cannot connect to it this way.

Just try a backup & see if it works.

***EDIT***
Just to put your mind at rest this is ours & backups do work:

***EDIT #2***
Your tpautoconf -verify output proves that communication/authorisation is ok
(& just as an aside the set_ndmp_attr command does the same thing as well as allowing you to set the authority)

After we set the NDMP Password via set_ndmp_attr all seems to be right now ::)

Thanks for all the excellent suggestions
