Netapp SNAPMirror and Backup Exec 2012
I'm backing up my primary Netapp filer using NDMP to a tape library. I have Daily backups configured during the week and full Weekly backups over the weekend. Everything was working well until I setup a SNAPMIRROR relationship from a Branch office to this site. The data being mirrored over is about 3TB and when included in the selection list is being backed up as if it was a full backup during a daily backup job. I suspect this is due to the fact the archive BIT is not being reset at the source and snap mirror is a readonly copy.
I see some people talking about different netapp NDMP level options. Do I need to set up different jobs from the rest of my CIFS backups to deal with this SNAPMirror data? Can someone who has done this before provide me some direction.
Thanks

NetApp do not use Archive bits that is a function provided by the NTFS file system.
The NDMP levels are Netapp way of providing a form of Incremental or differentila except you have to cerate a series of jobs to do incremental backups
i.e
Level 0, Level 1, Level 1, Level 1, Level 1, Level 1 (and repeated with new Level 0) = same as full + 5 differential backups
Level 0, Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, Level 4, Level 5 (and repeated with new Level 0) = same as full + 5 incremental backups
The way it works is:
Level 0 is everything
Level 1 is everything since last Level 0
Level 2 is everything since last level 1 etc
BTW I am not sure whether Symantec does any validation testing of support for SnapMirror Configurations
