Netbackup 7.0 and Exchange 2010 backup to disk in stead off tape
Created: 01 Sep 2010 | 1 comment
Hello,
we have netbackup 7.0 infrastructure with tape libraries. Recently we installed Exchange 2010. We want to backup Exchange 2010 databases (mailbox database is in DAG).
it is said that the only backup scenario is to backup it to disk first and then to tape. We want to use grt because a single item have to be restored.
Can anyone tel if it is true that a backup can't be done on tape and must be done first on disk?
regards
are there special guidlines to get this working with NB7.0 and Exchange 2010?

Correct. For GRT the backups must be on disk. It can be staged to tape as well, but the copy on disk is required for the restore.
Requirements and detailed steps are explained in the NBU for Exchange guide.
