This issue has been solved. See solution.

I plan to backup VMware machines on a 5220 Appliance FW 5.2 using SAN transport mode.

My appliance will be connected in a dual path / dual fabric mode to a HP EVA 6100 to access DataStore.

I do not find any technote about "how to configure multipathing" for this Appliance ?

For Linux SLES, there is some updates to /etc/multipath.conf...

Does anyone know where there is documentation about this ?

We are using SLES 11 with multipathd to do VMWARE SAN transport, but netbackup 7.5.0.4 ignore the multipath devices for reading, and use the first device it found that contains the vmfs....

Consequently we got lot's of trespassed LUN's with EMC CX/VNX, lot's of errors on Netapps :-(

I believe if you do the same on the NBU appliance, the netbackup will not use the multipath dev's as well...

NetBackup does not support multipathing on any Linux operating system: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH127089

Look on page 19 and 20 where it has a caveat about multi-path support to the VM data stores. This applies to the 5220 appliance as well.

The above comments are not to be construed as an official stance of the company I work for; hell half the time they are not even an official stance for me.
