Netbackup BMR allows you to restore a system from Bare Metal. What I'd like to know is what abt applications installed on the server? If I need to do a full system restore, what do I need to do? When backing up, what do I need to backup: system state, entire file system....

Wouldn't it be easier to use Acronis Trueimage 9.1 for this?

You need to do the ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES backup to use BMR, which means everything, + you need to get some drivers and windows patches.

Dunno if this trueimage program is better or worse, can you move a server to new hardware with it? I have successfully restored a server to different hardware and vmware with BMR, thought it took quite a few hours to make it run without problems.

Havent tried the newest BMR yet.
