NetBackup daemon ltid stopped
Updated: 21 May 2010 | 7 comments
All,
In the Administrative Console, when selecting Activity Monitor in the left pain, then clicking on the Daemon tab in the right-pain, Daemon ltid displays 'Stopped'. Is this daemon dependent on another daemon to start? Or, how do I start the ltid daemon? I have 'NO' attached SCSI media/tape devices in this install.
Thanks,

its by design
Hi,
This behaviour is by design. ltid is a media manager device daemon.
If you don not have devices attached to the server, you will not see ltid running.

Thanks.... That was my thought but wanted to make sure. I have a 2nd IDE slave drive in the pc to run some backups to. How do I see this in the Administrative Console?

Hi dbeck,
I am unclear on your question. What is it that you want to see in the Admin Console?

Not having any scsi hardware media devices(tape units) connected to this test pc at this point, I thought I could do some d2d(disk to disk) backups and restores to get familiar with Netbackup's consoles. So what I have done is added a 2nd IDE slave drive (40gig) in the pc to backup some files up to. How, within Netbackup's Administatrative Consoles can jobs be setup to backup some files from the primary drive to a folder on the 2nd (slave drive)?
Let me know if I'm still not clear as to what I'm trying to accomplish.
Thanks, -D-
possible.
Create a disk storage unit on the second drive.
make policy, add this same machine as client and backups selection from primary drive.
Right Said...
Very right solution by scorpy,
NOTE: if your B2D folder is on the root of the volume / drive do not forget to check the "This directory can exist on the root file system or system disk
Otherwise your backups may fail with Status Code 83

Thanks, everyone.... Successfully backed up some log files to the b2d folder... Now for some directories and then some restores. Very familiar with Veritas Backup Exec but allot to learn now using Netbackup 60 on Linux.
