Netbackup Images not expiring

This issue has been solved. See solution.

I'm running Netbackup 7.01 and for some reason the images on the tapes are not expiring and putting the tapes in the Scratch Pool.

I have the scratch pool defined and it's correct in the vm.conf file.  I also check the Inventory -> Advanced Options tape rules and they are set correctly to put tapes in the Scratch Pool.

For some reason the images just are not expiring.  I'm having to use the bpexpdate -m 000001 -d 0 -force command to manually expire the images.  All policies are set for just 1 week retention, but it doesn't seem to be working.

I checked and the the tapes are set to never expire and they are not frozen.

Is anyone else having this problem.

Try running this command and see if you get any error/clues

  bpexpdate -deassignempty -verbose

That seemed to complete without errors.

It found a slew of tapes and successfully deassigned them.  Not sure if there is something wrong with the Netbackup scheduler, since I thought it did that automatically, but apparently not in my case.

Please check if you're system is affected as described in the note. It relates to the bpexpdate not running by itself....

I think that was it.  The bpsched.d folder had no files in it.  I did create a CHECK_EXPIRED_MEDIA_INTERVAL file and set the value to 12.
