Netbackup Media Server unable to Configure Library

Hello Experts,

I have got a new NBU Media Server 6.5 installed on Windows 2003 R2 SP2(x64-bit) Server. The server has an ADIC Scaler i2k VTL Emulation assigned with 5 drives. The OS sees the Medium Changer and all the 5 drives(Using IBM x64-Bit drivers for LTO-4 drives). I ran Device Configuration Wizard and this found the Robot and 5 drives. Then gave Warning

"There are no enabled drives. Netbackup will not make use of a disabled drive.Devices may be enabled by clicking the adjacent checkbox. Do yoou wish to continue and save the configuration as it is ?"

But the check box below that wizard against all 5 drives were grayed out. Only Robot checkbox was checked and available for Select/Deselect option.

Does anyone have any expert comments on how to resolve this issue ???

Try to apply latest Mappings file

Latest Mappings for Windows is here!

Have you ever checked HCL? Emulation on VTL is not supported.
It may work, but you should disable emulation.

Please confirm that you have

Please confirm that you have installed the NBU 6.5 64-bit binaries? I think that 6.5.2 and 6.5.4 had complete install-media for x64.

Also check that Removable Storage Management service is stopped and disabled.

Please open cmd and run 'scan' from ...volmgr\bin directory.

Supporting Storage Foundation and VCS on Unix and Windows as well as NetBackup on Unix and Windows.

also try using robtest

also try using robtest located in volmgr\bin to see if you can issue some simple SCSI commands to the tape library and tape drives

robtest

select library

then type "s d" without the quotes to "show" the "drives" attached

Please check the

Please check the nbu_65_hcl.pdf page 26.

Check if your library is supported with 6.5

ADIC library is supported only for LTO3 (Ultrium 3) drive.  Pls check what what drive you have emulated out of ADIC in your environment.

Next you mentioned you have installed IBM x_64 bit LTO4 device driver.  If you have created a drive emulation of LTO3 and installed device driver for LTO4, it might not be compatible.  So try to install device driver for LTO3 drive.

If the image is not clear pls refer the HCL pdf document from symantec site.

Hope this resolves your issue.
