Hi Folks,

I just wanted to confirm whether Oracle instance restart/bounce is required pre/post running the Oracle_link script. I am going to configure few new oracle database online backups in our backup infra newly.

Netbackup master is 7.6.0.2, Windows 2008

Client nbu agent is 7.6.0.1 and 7.6.0.2 and Client OS : Linux/Solaris/Windows 2008.

Oracle version : 10g/11

Media server/Storage Unit : Appliance 5320

No need to restart anything.
The oracle_link script merely creates a symbolic link to the NBU libobk.
It was in pre-8.xxx days that 'make' had to be run to create a new oracle binary.

Also let me ask one query.

I am planing to move few oracle cleints from one master server to other master. Could you please let me know what are the things i have to carry out.i will list down whatever i knows

From the client side

Update the bp.conf file with new master/media server names

Update the host entries in the oracle client and master/media servers

Update the Oracle backup script with new master/policy details

Please let me know is there anything i am missing, or do i need to reran the Oracle_link script to establish the connection between oracle agent and new backup media(tape/disk)

Your steps to move to new master looks fine.
No need to re-ran oracle_link. As per my previous post, this script only creates a symbolic link from the Oracle libobk to the NBU libobk. All of these files reside on the client.
