NetBackup upgrade from 7.1 to 7.6

Created: 15 Jan 2014 | 5 comments

Dear all,

I am trying to upgrade NetBackup 7.1 server and client. Netbackup master server installation  completed successfully, but the client upgrade was stuck in the middle.

I tried doing from installing locally it gives no error but not moving after that and also i tried to push from master server by "bpplclient -ClientList filename" where it throws "no solaris binaries found" error.

It seems /usr/openv/netbackup/client/solaris* files was empty.

Kindly find the attachment.

server - Redhat Linux 6.2, 64-bit

client - Solaris10, 64-bit.

Please kindly help in this regard and also revert to me to pull out any more info for you.

thanks,

vel

Looks like PBX is getting stuck. You could try installing PBX from the downloaded installation separately.

Or open a support call with Symantec.

Server installation on the master will only install Linux client binaries on the master.

To perform push-upgrade from the master, you need to install Solaris (and other Unix clients that you have in your environment) Client binaries on the master.

This is described in NetBackup Installation Guide

Dear marianne,

Have you got any clues from the client upgrade output that i have attached.

Does i need to raise with symantec support for the same.

thanks,

vel

I have not yet updated any Solaris clients myself - so, unfortunately no 'bright spark ideas'.

I have noticed that that the Client installation files on FileConnect have changed -  no longer 3 separate downloads that need to be joined and extracted.

Not sure if gtar is still needed to extract the 7.6 Client binaries, but there will be no harm in trying.
See http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH154080 for details.

If this does not help, please follow revaroo's advice...
