Netbackup vmware backup

My doubt is Can i run a vmware m/c backup as well as seperate database backup ( full & incrimental ) for the same vm which has got SQL server 2008 on windows server 2008 r2 . Is there any issue ? .The3 netbackup client is installed on the M/C .

YES you can....

if Netbackup Client is installed on VM guest OS then you can configure below 2 different policy in master server.

1. File level backup (OS backup)

2. SQL database backup (Application aware backup)

No problem doing both - in general though you should schedule them to run at different times so that the VSS writers do not clash during the backups

Also remember that you can do the SQL backups via the VMWare policy now too - if you have a client installed already you just need to install the Symantec VSS writer as well and then select the SQL option on the VMWare tab of the policy
