Netware Agent update/install

Created: 24 Jul 2008 • Updated: 22 May 2010 | 2 comments
This issue has been solved. See solution.

The upgrade to 12 has gone well with the exception of the NetWare agents updates.

When I click NetWare Agents, Add Remote Computer, it says "No NDS trees/Servers found."

No biggie, right? Click Add Computer manually, give it the IP address, it pops the username/password dialog.

No matter the NetWare username format, fully qualified, short qualified or username only I get a "Login failure: unlknown user name or bad password" I can take the credentials right from the Logon Accounts setup and it still does not work. This is not a password issue...

Unless I missed something the docs just act like this should work.

Any pointers?

I got the agent installed. The installation process requires access to the BKUPEXEC folder on the NetWare file system. In our case, it meant Client32 is required to be available where the agent is being installed from.

If the documentation was slightly less ambigious about this, it would have helped. Also, a stand alone installer would be nice as file level access is difficult to accomplish from a windows server console.
