Network Access Control and Migration from SEPM 11.0.6 to 12.3

Created: 13 Jun 2013 | 6 comments

Hi

we are planing to migrate from SEPM 11.0.6 to 12.3. but before that i was looking for some answers. i have seen that 11.0.6 also support network access control but i havent seen that tab in SEPM policy or the client so i can i activate it in 11.0.6.

also i wana know can i import all the policies  from 11.0.6 to 12.3? wont there be a version conflict? also if i change the SEPM then do i have to go to every client to  uninstall the client of 11.0.3  and then re install the client of 12.3 or is there a way that i got simply upgrade clients from SEPM?

regards

If you can upgrade the version then policy will also upgraded not require to import the policy.

also if i change the SEPM then do i have to go to every client to  uninstall the client of 11.0.3

You can use auto upgrade or Declient deployment to upgrade the client, not required to uninstall.

Q1) Yes you can import all policy from SEPM 11 to SEPM 12.3.

Q2) No, you dont need to uninstall manually, You can install through SEPM 12.3 directly or you can migrate using push deployment wizard.

Please refer the below path.

You need SNAC license of activate SNAC components

When you import the policy for sep 11 to sep 12.1.3 you may be received error (Release Update 2 (RU2), the word "JavaScript" was added to the script filter parameters for security reasons)

No you don't need to uninstall old sep client and reinstall new sep client ,you can use autoupgrade feature for upgrading sep client.

Hello,

I would suggest you to please follow the article below of Best Practices to Migrate from the Earlier version of SEP 11.x to the SEP 12.1 RU3.

Best practices for upgrading to Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.x

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH163700

We have two separate CDs, one for SEP and one for SNAC.  However the SEP client install also install the SNAC features.  So you don't need to download the SNAC CD to update the clients.  However the SNAC CD has the SNAC license file that needs to be applied to the SEP SEPM in order to enable the SNAC features on SEPM.

Once SEPM has the SNAC features then the clients will automatically enable the SNAC features also.  This has not changed since SEP 11.

Note: If you already have both SEP and SNAC enabled on SEPM and you want to upgrade to 12.1 then you only need to download the SEP 12.1 CD.  The only reason to download the SNAC12.1 CD is if you wanted to install the SNAC-only clients.

Check this Thread with same issue:

Hope that helps!!
