Hi all, I have a windows 2008 server with DHCP DNS AD WDS INSTALLED. and I would like to deploy an OS windows XP to my workstation 100 units using multicast feature. We want to perform auto deployment by using wake on LAN feature and PXE. As a result, what is the boot wizard I should use in order to work with WDS. beside than, I created a WIM file using boot wizard with winpe network boot but WDS come out with an error msg saying invalid WIM file. I also use the parameter -clone,mode=restore,src=@mc123,dst=1:1 -sure but it was stuck in "waiting to server" forever and in the server side I selected multicast mode. However when I select unicast mode above mention parameter, the task is running fine. It's only doesn't work when I select multicast with the parameter above mention. Your help is much appreciated. Thank you

Can you tell us which version of Ghost you are using?

    Symantec Ghost Solution Suite 2.5

    Version 11.5.0.2113

I do not have internet connection in my lab. As a result, updating is almost impossible.

    Thank you.

Note: I created a WIM but do not able to use with WDS.

According to the doc, there is an option to build a bootable media which is compatiable with WDS. But i couldnt find any in Boot Wizard.

I am trying to boot my workstation with network and then deploy OS using Multicast feature.

Now i'm stuck in creating a WIM file compatiable with WDS.

There is a link at the top of this forum for contacting support. They can provide a link to a download of the current 11.5.1.2266 build.

Alternatively, you could try building a wim file based on this article:  https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/readyadventures-winpe

This uses a version of the WAIK that I believe is more closely aligned with Server 2008 than the one used in GSS.

is there any newbie guide available required my environment ?

    User - Windows XP SP3 x100 unit

    Windows 2003 32/64bit R2 SP2 server

    Deployment method,

Wake-on-LAN > Deploy OS images > Multicast (is a must) > user PC.

thank you. Due to time constain, I do not have much time to do some googling :(
