Network Prevent For Web?

Created: 18 Feb 2013 • Updated: 04 Mar 2013 | 4 comments
This issue has been solved. See solution.

We have a package of software that includes:

DLP ENDPOINT PREVENT 11.6

DLP NETWORK MONITOR

NETWORK PREVENT FOR EMAIL 11.6

ENDPOINT DISCOVER

ORACLE STANDARD EDITION ONE

I notice we do not have Network Prevent for Web.  Is this a common bundle?
What features are we missing without Network Prevent For Web?  Does missing Network Prevent for Web prevent functionality of any other parts of DLP?

Hello Netuser,

In my opinion, it is not so unusual. You can deploy just some part of DLP, depends on which risk you need/want to cover. I saw some client which didnt deploy this part of DLP especially when they already got some network infrastructure hardware which allow them to block access to some web site.

Without web prevent, you will be blind on HTTPS post to external web site, but you can mitigate this risk if you deploy endpoint on user workstation.

In your list DLP ENFORCE is missing, this is the most critical component of DLP as it is the central UI which will let you manage detection servers, incident, policies,.....

 Regards.

I was told Enforce is automatically included when you order other products and is part of the installation files you get when you download DLP software such as Network Monitor etc,, so there is no separate license or download needed.

Is that true?

Enforce is must for Symantec DLP for centrally managed detection servers like networks monitor or other components. Enforce is must to create policy end enforec to detection servers but other components are optional as per client/user requirement so u need separatee licence for each detection server/ DLP components.

In DLP Without enforec u can do anything that why it included with any DLP licence.
