Network Threat Protection and ping between Vista and Vista
Created: 10 Jan 2008 | Updated: 02 Mar 2009
I have noticed somthing regarding ping and Vista pc's.
I am using the default rules as template, and making a few modifications to the ping rules (ICMP), trying to enable ping between Vista pc's:
Allow ICMP (all commands and ports, both ways, any adapter) will enable ping from Servers and XP to VISTA pc's, and also the other way around, from VISTA to servers and XP.
But it is not sufficient to open ICMP, to ping between VISTA pc's.
I log blocked traffic, and when pinging, I can see that NTP (Network Threat Protection) blocks IP traffic, port N/A. Opening all IP traffic makes the ping work, and ofcourse at the same time making NTP worthless.
I guess this has something to do with IPv6, but I have no clue where to start...
Does anyone have any suggestions?
