  • 1.  Network Threat Protection not installing, The Network Threat Protection component has a product patch to apply

    Posted Sep 16, 2010 01:40 PM

I've seen a forum on this but no solution for those still having the issue after a restart.

In the Home, Status Summary section of the SEPM it shows computers needing restarting, the server with the SEPM installed is one of them. It's been restarted but the indiction is not clearing.

It says it needs rebooting "The Network Threat Protection component has a product patch to apply. "

Network threat was not installed on this system so I tried to install it using both putting a Client Install Package with just AV, AS and Network Threat Protection in the Client's Intall Packages Tab and set the schedule set to run in a few minutes. That did not run and so I tried running an install using an exported "Client Install Feature Set" with AV, AS and Network Threat Protection.

Neither way is installing. I'm trying to do this on the Server that contains the SEPM.

So how is the "Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) Status Summary" restarted? Is that by rebooting the system? I already said that the sytem was restarted, twice now. Still not updating.

I even tried installing Network Threat Protection which was not part of an earlier install. Not only is the Status Summary not updating the Network Threat Protection is not installing.

when NTP is installed you need to reboot to see the NTP component in the GUI

    go to control pannel

    add/remove programs

    select sep

    select modify

    install NTP and PTP

do a reboot of the system

    update policy on the client

check the status on the screen now

the home tab is 12 hours windows not a real time indicator; so lets wait for an hour or two :)

It appears the reboot solved it. I thought I had already did a reboot after the NTP install but must not have. The reboot required indication did clear after reboot.
