New Aclient 6.9.430
Upgraded to DS SP3, upgraded clients to the version 430. My problem is the quality of the picture has gone down terribly. Its like a terrible blend of 256 color and 32 bit. Has anybody else had this problem?

that is the quality of the
that is the quality of the picture in DS Remote, and the problem is in both aclient and dagent.
Agreed. I orignally thought
Agreed. I orignally thought the issue was limited to my Windows 7 computers, but the helpdesk guys have informed me that the XP computers are rubbish too. Our issue is simple a bunch of horizontal lines (with a green dot/pixel on teh left side). Very frustrating, especially considering how unstable DAgent is on Windows 7. I thought the the SP3 was meant to add "support" for the new OS... not make things worse. As for colours, well... we don't have that exact issue. Have you checked the options under "View" > "Color Depth" from the Remote Control window?
Same Issue
We're having the same issue over here. I contacted support and here's what I got back from them:
"What you are experiencing is a known issue with resolution settings. I will send you a work around as there is currently no permanent fix.
As a workaround force the screen resolution on the DS Remote Control Properties:
From the DS Console right click the target machine experiencing the issue,
go to Remote Control > DS remote control > View > Properties
Check the "Use Specific Image resolution" box and type the maximum value which is 1600 x 1200" That seems to fix the issue. However, you'll need to repeat on all machines with the problem!
2 Ideas
If you begin a Remote Desktop session with a client using Altiris Deployment Server, first (before logging in) do this.
Ues a different color level for the time being (PS - Do not use 8pp - that will cause the screen to be WHITE). Use 4bpp as follows:
Opening Altiris DS, once you have selected a client and picked DS Remote Control, the client screen image appears. Click on the "View" dropdown menu then the "Color Depth" item. Choose 4Bpp from the menu list. This will get rid of the color banding and make the screen - though not perfect - easier to read and also improves the speed of the session as a bonus too !
The second idea is to set the clients video card setting to 24 bit. Though you probably don't want to have to do this on many machines lest you have to change them back...
ONCE Altris fixes this by creating 32bit video capability within the DS 6.9 SP3 client to work with 32 bit graphics cards - the essence of the problem.
Fix coming soon....
I've spoken to an Altiris Engineer about this and explained what I believe causes it..... and, in summary, he stated that we will get a hotfix, perhaps within the next 2-3 weeks.
