New Asset Status

Does anyone know were to create a new asset status type? I am trying to use something other than the canned status types like Active or Retired. I thought I found a spot in CMDB named "Fixed Asset Status Resource Type" but when I create a new status it never shows up as an option when I try and change the status of a computer?
