  • 1.  New Client Installs Don't Show Up In SEPM

    Posted Oct 31, 2013 04:55 PM

We've just installed SEP 12.1.4 on one of our servers, and I'm having issues getting new client installs to show up in the management console.

I will push the client remotely, and the console says that the install completed successfully.

However, even after rebooting (several times), the client computer never shows up in the manager.

I've also tried installing manually, which doesn't always work either. I can't seem to find any kind of pattern.

This is going to be a real problem when we roll this out to our entire company.

Edit: We do still have a previous (separate) install of SEP 11 on a different server. I was able to successfully bring over 3 machines from that server onto the new 12.1 site. We only have domain, and don't want to migrate anything over between the 2 management consoles.

Did you try replacing the sylink file?

Also, you can enable sylink logging to see the communication between client/server

Make sure necessary ports are open 8014 for communication

if they are cloned remove the HWID as per this document.

Now the package doesn't even appear to be reaching the remote computers. I logged into one of the test computers this morning and Symantec isn't even installed on the machine (I pushed to it several times yesterday, and even manually installed it myself).

I think that the sylink.xml file is incorrect in the actual install package, but I can't figure out how to replace it with the correct one.

No filters are applied, and we haven't cloned anything.

Can you manually export the installation package in SEPM and try to install in one of the test computers.

After installtion reboot it once, wait for 5-10 minutes. Go to client GUI and check help and support-->troubleshooting. Check wheter you able to see the SEPM IP/Name here.

    Hi,

Have you checked the communication port from client to SEPM server if not do a telnet.

Are the machines are cloned then run the clone preparation tool before cloning.
