We recently installed Asset Management 6.5 and there are some new Resources listed under Computer Management. There are Computer Devices, Families, Models, etc. I have been unable fo find any information on how or what populates those resources. Computer Model is entered in our database, but does not appear in the Computer Model field here. Can someone point me in the right direction? Having this information would be very useful. Thanks.

Inventory -> Asset Sync?

Don't have my asset VM up and running, but there is a task that needs to be enabled to sync inventory data to asset data that will populate that information if I recall correctly.

NS Inventory should help populate that data for you.

Asset types/asset sync

Hi Cammie,

jjesse is correct. The Inventory to Asset Synchronization task/rule will populate system number, serial number, manufacturer and model based on the schedule and settings you specify. One other caviat to this process is that if you are creating assets manually or through some other process (e.g. barcode solution) in AMS, the asset fields for those resources will only be synced with inventory data if the system or serial numbers are populated on the asset side and can be matched up with an inventory record.

Cammie -- The "Inventory

Cammie --

The "Inventory to Asset Data Synchronization" can be configured under the (in the 6.5 console) View > Configuration > Solution Settings > CMDB.

I have mine scheduled to run nightly at 1:30 AM as to not hinder any other processes.

If you are running inventory and it has run on your assets you should be able to open the Resource Manager of the asset and view the inventory data which will include the SN, make, model, etc. that you are trying to sync.
