  • 1.  New computer. PGP volume is empty when mounted

Old laptop died after being in water.  However have a full disk back up with Acronis.  Have now bought new laptop.  I did not have full disk encryption.  I had 3 files that I used to store secure data.  When I clicked on the file it would mount a new virtual drive with its own drive letter.   I never set a key and access was simply by a password.

I tried to load PGP 10 but could not remember the company details precisely enough.  Decided to by the new version from Symantec

Have loaded the program and registered.  When I click on the PGP file I am prompted for thje passphrase.  I then get a message that the volume has loaded as drive x.  When I go to explorer and open drive x there are no files listed.

Is there a way to crack this.  As I have the full image of the old disk do I have to find a key somewhere???

    Help would be great

    Thanks

Assuming you had a default installation, your private key will be inside My Documents\PGP\

Import that into your new installation and you should be OK.
