  • 1.  New computers unable to receive inventory after SQL server move

    Posted May 24, 2016 02:13 PM

    Hello everyone,

We recently had 2 seperate SQL Servers and 2 Notification Servers. To save on licensing costs the less used SQL server was consolidated with the main one and after pointing the NS to the new server everything seemed to work fine. I was able to deploy software to the computers just fine like before.

I have recently installed 2 new computers but they're not getting anything in their inventory even though they are pointed at the same NS as before (that didn't change, only the SQL server behind the NS).

Do you guys have any clue why this is happening?

    Thanks,

    Thijn

    Heythere,

Does anyone know what might have caused this? We're currently unable to deploy software to new computers.

    Thank you

1st: Check logs on client side (C:\ProgramData\Symantec\Symantec Agent\Logs) and on NS machine using "Altiris LogViewer". In case of problems between NS and these clients, you will see appropriate message.

2nd: Check licenses state whether they are expired/exceeded. You can open "Symantec Installation Manager" or "First Time Setup" portal page from SMP Console to see current licenses usage state.

3rd: Make sure that your clients are communicating with NS. You can use custom report to see this state

4th: Make sure that agents are not crashing on client side. You can use this report to see this state

5th: Open "Resource Manager" of new client computer from SMP Console and check summary about policies, filters for this client PC to identify where it is populated.
