Symantec Management Platform (Notification Server)

Could not access the package path.  Package:Software Management Solution Agent Package (4da80da4-f94c-492e-93f0-e3dcba19ac8c), Path:C:\Program Files\Altiris\SoftwareManagementSolution\Agent

This is a new error and I'm wondering if I should be worried.  Is this an older SMS agent from before our migration from 7.0 to 7.1?  can I just delete the resource package?

I have verified this path does not exist. 

Does the software resource itself exist on the NS server? Just not the physical installation package? Is there a 'new' 7.1 SMS agent?

Hey, Jim.  Yes it does but it points to an invalid package directory.

Everything appears to be working and Software Management Solution agent 7.1.1443 installs.  The package directory on the server for this agent is C:\Program Files\Altiris\Notification Server\NSCap\bin\Win32\X86\Software Management\Plugin and is valid.

I was just guessing that this is an older sms agent software resource left over from our 7.0 migration.  I wanted to check before I deleted it. 

I'll check the resource again to see what msi it references in the command line.  Maybe that will help determine if it can be deleted?

on the logviewer (should be able to link to directly from the error logs) and it should show if there are any references. If not, you should be able to delete it. I would consider using the deleteitem utility (usually for bulk deletions), only because it removes all links.

This is the msi and creation date.  This is also around the time we were having so much trouble on the 7.0 server and applying patches and hotfixes and service packs.  We have a completely new system now.
