New Tapes: What to do and where did one of them go?

This issue has been solved. See solution.

Backup Exec 12 on Windows Server 2008 with Dell PowerVault TL2000.

I had five tapes in the magazine which have been running for four years, and now added five more tapes.

Then I run "Inventory" and they turned up in their slots in Media Set "Scratch..."

What I did, which I probably shouldn't have done, was to "Import.." on one of the tapes/slots. Then the tape disappeard and the slot is as empty.

1. So, how do I get my tape back?

2. Also, now when the tapes are there, in media set "Scratch Media", are they ready to go? I don't need to do anything but att them to Media Sets?

Thanks for any responses.

Hi,

No need to add them to any media sets unless you really want to. With them being Scratch, they'd be allocated to media sets as specific jobs ran.

Just make sure there is no mail slot enabled on the library itself, and if so, deselect it.

Then run an Inventory (run 1 anyway) and the tapes should all be listed.

Thanks!
