New version of SIM and MP1 update are out for CMS 7.1 SP2

FYI, when SIM is upgrading, it downloaded the files and then hung on me. I realized the next dialogue was hidden under my 2 open windows, so something to look out for, I'll attach a screenshot.
Trying to decide if I should install MP1 to address my possible issues.. afraid it may cause worse ones.

TECH197966 says to take note of Configuration Settings. Has anyone actually found zapped config settings after the MP1 upgrade or does it behave like pre-SMP (i.e. Altiris 6) upgrades where it usually only disables agent install/upgrade policies, if any?

I took the plunge and
I took the plunge and upgraded my server to ITMS 7.1 SP2 MP1.1 where, thus far, I did come across one setting that was changed. Due to a known issue I've seen since Altiris 6, I had previously set the TimeValue SQL query parameter for my New Software Bulletins Available automation policy to 72 hours but found it back at its default 24-hour value after the MP1.1 upgrade. The lack of a new patch e-mail for this month's Microsoft updates prompted me to find this post-MP1.1 issue.

Additional pre-upgrade steps
Additional pre-upgrade steps were added to TECH197966 since my previous post in this thread. For the SQL-related ones in step 11, are there step-by-step instructions for the two options listed? Sorry, SQL ain't my thing so need some guidance in this area.
Also, can anyone explain what prompted the addition of these additional pre-upgrade steps? Does it make a difference if I'm using a Domain Admin account as logon credentials for the Altiris Service on my SMP server?
