This error seems straight forward, but let me explain the situation.

I created a Windows 7 image using Bart PE which is using Symantec Ghost Server 8.3.0.1.1331. When I transfer this image to my updated ghost server which is running Symantec Ghost Server 11.5.1 and try to image a workstation, I receieve this error "A newer version of ghost is required". All of my old xp images cast fine on my 11.5.1 ghost server, but I cant seem to get this Windows 7 image to cast... Any recommendations?

You need to create the image using the latest version of Ghost, as Ghost 8 does not "understand" the way that Windows 7 operates.

I'm in the process of upgrading the ghost server, and the ghost server itself says the current version, but when I connect a workstation to cast and boot from NIC/log into the client through PXE boot, it says the old version still (8.XXX). Do you have any suggestions on how to upgrade that client that I log into when I go through PXE boot? It seemed liked I uninstalled every instance of ghost on my ghost server and reinstalled in every combination, but I still cannot get that client to upgrade.

    Hi Friend,

My understanding is that though you upgraded your Ghost Server , the bootimage you use is still the same which you created with Ghost 8.x . I would advice you to go ahead and create a fresh boot image with the help of your upgraded ghost server.

Tips for the best output :

Since you have a fresh upgraded ghost Server at your end, you need to ensure that you have got the updated NIC/Storage drivers added to your WinPE. If you have an active support contract with symantec, get in touch ith the support technician to add all latest drivers for m ost common NIC cards and storage controllers.
