    Hello Jack,
    I think so everyone told my words which i'll say :)
    as you well know the best way like this;
    1. Disable system restore
    2. Update windows security and critical updates
    3. Update Sep Client
    4. open Windows Safe mode
    5.  Try full system scan
    And you can look start up programs with sysinternals autorun. therefore you can see hidden startup programs in your registry.
    please try this way.

    Best Regards.
    Fatih

    Run SEP support toll and submit any file which is found as suspicious to symantec.

    1. Open the windows search 2. Search for *.exe 3. Specify the size to be less than 1 mb 4. Include hidden and system files in the search. 5. Start the search 6. Wait for the search to end. 7. Click on the size tab to group all the files of the same sizes together (windows xp) 8. Scroll down to see any files that look like the FOLDER ICONS of WINDOWS XP 9. Select them all and permanent delete them

    Like Rehal said, try to remove it but I suggest trying it in safe mode.
