Newly installed SEP12 client not registered in the management server

Hi,

Need help on our SEP12 deployment.

We are upgrading to SEP12 on our company and it came to our attention that there are clients not updating antivirus definitions from the server and not listed/registered on the management server even after these clients are already upgrade and displays SEP12 in its client console.

Please help.

Are the client showing offline ?

try to replace sylink.xml

Could you please check that all clients are online with SEPM or offline.

If you open a client and go to Help >>Troubleshooting. Does it show connected to the SEPM?

What is the sep version you installed?

how many client have this issue?

client is online (green dot) on server or not?

if client is offline on server replace sylink.

for 12.1 ru2 and later version try the below article

Hi, 

What is showing on client side ? Weather it is showing offline ?

is client is able to communicate with SEPM ?

have you tried to replace the sylink.xml

In the past we have seen following known issue and fixed in RU2 MP1 check if it's related to mentioned issue.

Clients report to the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager as offline, even though they are online
Fix ID: 3002170
Symptom: Clients will randomly report into the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager as offline, even though they are actively online and available.
Solution: Updated the client USN management to properly update the client status in the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager reports.
