    Hello All,

     

    On October 1st, Symantec have announced the launch of Protection Engine for Cloud Services 7.0.  This software is the next generation of the current Scan Engine technology.  New features of the 7.0 product line include:

     

    •   Next generation threat detection components                                                                                        

    •   Advanced unscannable file handling                                                                                        

    •   Integrates with Microsoft Active Directory authentication and authorization services for easy delegation of administration.                

    •   Latest platform support and enhanced performance

     

    Existing Symantec Scan Engine 5.2, Symantec Antivirus for Caching 5.2 (aka SAV for Caching) and Symantec Antivirus for Messaging 5.2 (aka SAV for Messaging) customers with active maintenance are eligible to upgrade to Symantec Protection Engine for Cloud Services 7.0.

     

    New builds can be download from Symantec's FileConnect site with a valid serial number.

    Maybe what should be mentioned in as well is that when using reverse proxies in your environment for services like Outlook Anywhere etc. that the Protection Engine can be used for securing this requests coming from the Internet. Based on the capabilities of the Protection Engine to handle ICAP and RPC by default as well that extensions that can be created using our SDK the Protection Engine can secure almost every web application.
