  • 1.  No Agent Policies. Setting wakeup to 1 hour. What is this?

    I'm getting the follwing error at :06 and :46 of every hour.  What setting is this talking about?  I've checked all over and can't find any setting that matches this.

    Do you have the software discovery scan enabled? Settings -> Software -> Software Catalog and Software Library Settings -> Software Discovery

    This is no longer needed after SP2 of CMS has been installed.

    Software discovery is not enabled.  At least not here. 
    We do have a software inventory scan set to run once a month under Policies => Discovery and Inventory => Inventory => Collect Full Inventory

    Just for grins I turned on the Software Discovery.  Another warning was logged exactly at that time.

    Since they are warnings (blue text, severity 2), I suspect it's just an overzealous logging, and not to worry.

    Sounds like this is a SMP7 thing, but the InventoryRuleAgent used to be a component of Patch Management (I suppose it is now rolled in as a core function of Software Management).  Just for grins, are the Patch inventory policies turned on (if such a thing even exists anymore)?

    *hangs head in shame* I really need to get to work with NS7...indecision

    The inventory rule data is also tied in with the Software Library I believe. There are patch inventory policies as well, so you weren't far off.
