  • 1.  No alert for Symantec Premium Antispam updates

I found out that there is no way to setup an alert for notifying you on failure of Symantec Premium Antispam updates.

We are running 6.5.5 SMSMSE which is fairly recent and it is failing getting new rulesets.

Why cannot symantec create a way to setup a notification if these rulesets are not updating or corrupt?

    Hi Vijay,

An excellent idea!  SMSMSE 6.5.5 introduced a notification for out-of-date virus definitions. Full details can be found in the following KB:

"Mail Security sends notifications when virus definitions are older than the configured number of days. You can specify the frequency of sending notifications when old definitions are found. Yoiu can also configure the number of days an outdated virus definition can remain on the system after which a notification is sent. This configuration is done using registry settings."

I have created a Connect Forum Idea (enhancement request) based on your sugfgestion for a similar notification for PAS.

Past ideas that have generated a large amount of public support have been incorporated into the product.  I encourage you, and all other SMSMSE admins who consider this to be a useful potential feature, to cast a "thumbs up" vote for this idea.

    Thanks once again,

    Mick
